To use any of the tabs or tools, just click on the name of the tab, or on the icon (shown next to the tool name below). The icon menu, while continue to be located on the left as you go to the tool pages.

What do the Icon tools do?
Edit My Blackboard Profile To use any of the below tools, click the title of the tool in the bottom left corner on your Blackboard Profile page. Make sure to click save at the end of each edit!
Settings and Privacy - Change what basic information is there, and who can see it.

BB Home - takes you to a personal homepage that shows your calendar with what is due today and due this week, recently graded items, and posts. The calendar area include a link to see more of the calendar.
Posts - “The Posts tool consolidates posts, comments and replies from across all your courses and organizations including posts from discussion boards, blogs, journals, and wikis.”
Updates - shows updates from the courses you are enrolled in, like announcements, assignments that need to be graded, and newly available content. Change what updates you receive:
Once on the Updates page, click the gear in the top right corner
Select which notifications you want to receive
Click Save
My Grades - shows grades and grade breakdown for each course
Retention Center - Courses that you have set to track risk will show, risk breakdown and access alerts. Clicking on See Details will bring you to the actual retention center for that course. Turn on Tracking:
Once on the Retention Center page, select a course
If the course is not already tracking, click Start tracking now
Calendar
Weekly view
Change the view by clicking on the _ or _ icon just below the word Calendar
Course calendar
Select which of the calendars you want to show in the area under Calendars
Get external calendar link
Once on the Calendar page, click Get External Calendar Link
Copy link
Go to your external calendar and follow the provider’s instruction on adding an external calendar
Click X in the top right of the box, when done on the BB page
Create event
Once on the Calendar page, click on the + in the top right corner
Fill in event information
Click Save
